Before ordering please carefully review the following information. Upon ordering you agree to our Terms of Service.
Care and Maintenance
We believe our jewelry is made with the finest materials and highest craftsmanship. With proper care, it can be enjoyed for generations. However, fine jewelry is not indestructible and requires special care and maintenance. Gold is a soft, malleable metal prone to scratching and bending. Each gemstone variety has specific care requirements (even diamonds). Moving parts including bails, earring components and clasps are delicate and require gentle handling and frequent inspection to ensure proper functionality. Please see our recommended care and contact us with your specific questions or for more in-depth information. We are not responsible for damage or degradation due to use or wear.

Production & Shipping
We know you are eager to revive your order but it takes time to source our stones, design and make our jewelry. Many of our items are made to order. We advise you to expect an 8-10 week production time to complete your order before shipping. We ship to the contiguous United States via insured Fedex Express with a flat rate of $75. Shipping costs and delivery times for orders outside of the contiguous US are considered on a case by case basis. Someone must be present to sign for our deliveries and take full responsibility for the shipment at that point.
Custom Orders
We consider custom pieces and special orders on a case by case basis and do not guarantee we will accept your project. In the event we do accept your custom order, we require a 50% non-refundable deposit before the initiation of the project. The remaining balance is due upon the receipt of the item. An 8-10 week or longer production time can be expected for custom orders. Custom items and special orders are considered final sale and not eligible for return or exchange.

Our jewelry is made from 18KY gold. It is a softer gold and can scratch slightly with routine daily wear. We anticipate this with our jewelry and believe the little light scratches that occur with daily wear only add to the beauty of our jewelry. They speak to the life of the piece much like the bumps, wrinkles and scars we acquire in life tell our stories. Clean your gold jewelry with a mild soap, warm water and a soft, clean toothbrush.
Like any fine leather product, our cords may develop a patina with wear. Avoid contact with water, liquids and cosmetics. We recommend tying knots and bows securely but gently to avoid crimping the leather.

Opals are a beautiful gemstone, but also delicate. They are soft and high in water content, making them more susceptible to climate and temperature changes. Heat and prolonged exposure to light can cause tiny fractures to develop called crazing. We recommend you do not wear your opals in extreme temperatures or while participating in physical activities. Opals are susceptible to chemicals and you should avoid exposing opals to household cleaners, ultrasonic and steam cleaning. Wash your opals in warm soapy water.
The beauty of your pearls comes from their lustrous nacre (outermost layer). Maintain this luster by following the golden rule of putting your pearls on last and taking them off first. Pearls are especially susceptible to chemicals so avoid makeup, perfumes, hair products, chlorine, and any other chemicals. When not wearing your pearls store them separate from you other jewelry to avoid scratching. For routine cleaning, clean with a very soft, dry cloth after each wearing. It is ok to occasionally wash your pearls with warm, soapy water. Dry with a very soft, clean cloth. After washing, strung pearls should be laid flat to completely before wearing. Never subject pearls to steam or ultrasonic cleaning.
Conch pearls may be light sensitive. Because of this they are known as “evening pearls”. To prevent the risk of discoloration please avoid prolonged exposure to light or heat in addition to the special care recommendations for pearls. Conch pearls are also delicate and susceptible to scratching and blows. For routine cleaning, clean with a very soft, dry cloth after each wearing. It is ok to occasionally wash your pearls with warm, soapy water. Dry with a very soft, clean cloth. After washing, strung pearls should be laid flat to completely before wearing. Rhodium is one of the world's rarest and most expensive metals. We use black or blue rhodium and rose gold to visually compliment a variety of our gemstones. They are applied as a very thin layer to the beads and prongs surrounding the gemstones. Clean turquoise with warm soapy water and a soft, clean cloth. Do not steam or ultrasonic. Avoid contact with other jewelry to prevent scratching.

Turquoise is a soft stone, prone to scratching. It is often stabilized to increase durability. The care and cleaning of both untreated and stabilized turquoise is the same. Store your turquoise separately in soft pouches or boxes. Chemicals, cosmetics, hot water and even prolonged exposure to sunlight may damage turquoise. Clean turquoise with warm soapy water and a soft, clean cloth. Do not steam or ultrasonic.
Most zircon is heat treated. While the treatment’s stability is good, please avoid harsh chemicals, abrasives and strong UV light.
As a member of the Jewelers Vigilance Committee, Leigh Maxwell has made a promise to comply with all laws applicable to the jewelry we sell and to accurately describe our products. In compliance with Federal Trade Commission guidelines, we disclose treatments on our gemstones. In doing this we aim to protect our customers, increase confidence in the jewelry industry, and promote lawful business practices.
Treated gemstones are not synthetic (ie. lab grown) or “fake”. Many treatments are considered standard in the industry. Emeralds are almost always oiled to improve their clarity and turquoise is very frequently stabilized to increase its durability. Many treatments are considered stable, meaning sometimes, special care is needed for treated stones. That care is outlined in the “Care and Maintenance” section at the top of this page. It’s important to understand the gemstones you are purchasing. If you have any questions on the treatments of our gemstones please contact us.
